O Grivo | Música Precária The Grivo group, consisting of Nelson Soares and Marcos Moreira, presents three pieces of music: Folha de Metal, Ritmo and Sopro. Their proposal is based on operations with precarious instruments and computers, an acoustic environment working on the edges, in a territory located somewhere 'between' acoustic and electronic with sounds that can also be digitally processed. The acoustic environment is characterized by improvisation and features two musicians. There are no preconceived itineraries; the musicians' performances, or interventions, enable sound to remain in a process of constant transformation and place listeners in an enduring state of auditive attention throughout the performance.
Superimposed layers and materials that blend with previous sounds create an environment and alter the usual perception of time. Repetition is used as a rhythmic strategy. The pieces, taken as a whole, explore varied notions of space organization, superimposition, perspective, speed and fragmentation. Is not this yet another form of poetic resistance to certain ways of being in the world? |

The work of the Grivo group is mainly based on the proposal of a state of curiosity and thoughtful readiness to listen, combined with discussion of relations between sounds and space. They investigate acoustic and electronic acoustic sources, the non-conventional use of traditional musical instruments and dialogue with film, video, theater and dance. |

Música Precária | 2003 | CD
These sounds in a terrain situated between acoustic and electronic may be digitally processed. Improvised performances or interventions produce sound in constant transformation. The environment thus created alters normal perception of time, and pieces explore notions of overlay, speed and fragmentation. |
